"...Despite a few minor reductions in physical scope, most of Nunn’s and choreographer Matthew Bourne’s inspired work is deftly re-created these few years down the road, including the show-stopping staging of “I’m Getting Married in the Morning,” which takes an ever-drunker Alfred P. Doolittle all over London to pubs, theaters and streets. Here, the fabulous Broadway veteran Tim Jerome deservedly brings the house down."

"...Overall, director Trevor Nunn's three-hour production has a decidedly lavish look, with an elaborate series of sets by Anthony Ward that deftly conjure Edwardian London, and with exceedingly stylized choreography by Matthew Bourne (the posh crowd at the Ascot races take on an anthropomorphic turn with high-stepping horse movements, and there is some "Stomp!"-like clogging with dustbin covers as pubgoers join in for a rousing "With a Little Bit of Luck")."

"...My Fair Lady is thoroughly a period piece, but its fantasy depiction of the ultimate makeover breaking Britain's rigid class system still rings relevant today. The fact that this production is so smart and entertaining only emphasizes "My Fair Lady's" status as a musical masterpiece."

"...under Trevor Nunn's inventive direction, the story of linguistics professor Henry Higgins' wager to turn cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady is more exuberant than ever."

"...Lisa O'Hare is ideal as Eliza--feisty and smart, with the graceful beauty of an Audrey Hepburn and the soprano of a Julie Andrews. But Christopher Cazenove is a blustery boor as her mentor Henry Higgins, utterly lacking the character's sly charm and eccentric complexity. It's impossible to believe anyone, let alone Eliza, could care for such a pompous bully. Rent the movie."

"...This ageless romantic musical comedy still holds up in the 21st Century with its powerful book, melodic score on stinging lyrics. Combine Bernard Shaw with Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe and you get a splendid evening of musical theatre. Cameron Mackintosh’s National Tour is a wonderful treat with its fine sets and tight production values."

"...Set to the glorious music of Frederick Lowe and with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, "My Fair Lady is one of our classic musicals. This play ran on Broadway for over 2,700 performances (opened in 1956) and then became a smash hit movie winning eight Academy awards in 1964. Songs such as "I Could Have Danced All Night", "With A Little Bit of Luck", "On The Street Where You Live" and "Get Me to The Church On Time" have become standards and while this production, being a road show, lower budget one has a little less glitz (and what appears to be a wobbly set) the main characters do some stellar work."
