In the midst of the Franco-Prussian war, Ingolstadt’s substitute doctor is not exactly what he seems to be. Victor Frankenstein is brilliant, yes, but not a traditional physician by any means. Pastor Friedmann already has deep suspicions, but when Elizabeth, Victor’s fiancé, arrives unexpectedly, she ignites a dangerous spark that pits science against religion for the very souls of Ingolstadt, and possibly the world. Passions are high as Victor is convinced science will usher in a brave new world; but this has dangerous repercussions for the institutions of church and state. Elizabeth, as well as the audience, is caught in the middle, forced to consider the dangerous implications of a seemingly impossible future.
